This small animal has been swallowed by the fish in a remote Cape York river and has been partially digested when the fish was caught by a fisherman. But, fortunately for these lizards, fish Saratoga much sought after by sport anglers because of its willingness to attack anything that moves and the quality of opposition.

John Berzins, an angler the United States, was fishing in the company of Al Simson in the Doughboy River on the west side of the northern Cape York this week when he caught this fish.

While they were taking photos of fish began to regurgitate his food last, a lizard who clearly should have been dead and looked dead with lifeless eyes.

But when Samson continued to take photos of a miracle happened. "As I was looking through the camera lens I see that the eyes 'glazed' of the lizard is now turned black," he said.

I say, "Hey John, these lizards are still alive." Then John said, "Wow man, he blinked at me, and look, he's breathing."

Lizard began to struggle out and with a little help from anglers, he crawled from the jaws of predators. There were several bite marks on his back and the tail partly digested, but when they put back on the river he hurried away.

"We witnessed a strong desire to survive," said Samson. "The lizard that may slow the heart rate in order to stay alive for a period of time under water without air."
