JAKARTA - Volvo AB is on track to restart its Japan plant on March 28 after it was shut down following the recent earthquake and tsunami in the country.
“Our workers in Japan have came back to work two days ago,“ Volvo Truck Asia's President Joachim Resenberg told reporters during the launch of a new truck for the Indonesian market.
Rosenberg also said the company will set up a subsidiary in Indonesia within the next 12 months, but he declined to comment if it will establish a production or assembly facility here.
He said Volvo sold 5,000 trucks in Indonesia in 2010 and expects the number to grow in the future. He, however, didn't provide any forecast.
Volvo has been selling its trucks for 30 years in Indonesia via PT Indomobil Sukses Makmur.
