Hundreds Indonesian Workers Waiting for Repatriation

Monday, April 4, 2011 | 3:17 AM WIB | 1 Views Last Updated 2011-04-04T08:17:27Z
TANJUNGPINANG - Some 335 Indonesian problem migrant workers (TKIs) from Malaysia with living quarters in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands province, are awaiting repatriation.

"Under the plan they will be transported by Pelni boats from port of Kijang, Bintan, to Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, on Monday," head of the Tanjungpinang problem TKI handling authorities Juramasdi Esram said here Sunday.
Juramadi said the problem TKIs for repatriation to Java island and the eastern part of the country had been expelled by Malaysia from Thursday to Saturday. Most of them had been working in Malaysia without the necessary official papers, and caught by Malaysian police and volunteers for deportation.
"The problem TKIs from Sumatra and Riau Islands (Kepri) had already been repatriated," said Juramadi, who is also head of the Tanjungpinang social and manpower agency.
He said the repatriation of the problem TKIs from Tanjungpinang is only to Jakarta and not to Surabaya for those from the eastern parts of Indonesia.
"Some Damri buses will take them from Jakarta to Surabaya and the eastern part of Indonesia," he said.
