MEDAN - City government is still looking forward Home Minister's decree to halt financial support for regional owned football club.
"We have not received the decree yet," vice Mayor Dzulmi Eldin said the government would follow the Minister's order whether or not to allocate the budget.
He pledges the government's support for Medan-owned PSMS FC is not terminated, despite the regional budget allocation ban.
"City government would look for potential sponsors," said he.
Dzulmi said, PSMS may compete in an amateur football league if his side fail to get donators. "To play in Indonesia Premiere League (LPI) is fine. But, I don't think it is easy to carry out."
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), previously, has recommended Home Ministry to stop budget support for professional clubs under All-Indonesia Football Association (PSSI).
The anti graft body studied budget allocation policy for professional clubs, since early 2011. The study finds many violations in the financial management, KPK reported.
