SUNGAI RAYA - Indonesian Air Force special troops deputy commander of Sulaiman airbase in Bandung Colonel Pasukan Harpin said that as an international border airport, Supadio was prone to terrorist attacks.
"We chose Supadio airport as training ground of operations against hijackers for Bravo’90 special detachment, as Supadio is one of Indonesia’s international border airports which is prone to terrorist attacks," Harpin said following the exercises at Sungai Raya in the small hours of Thursday.
And considering that Supadio is growing, with the number of its passengers also constantly increasing significantly, also has a need for tight security precautions from their airport, as well as from the Air Force. He said Bravo’90 is an air force special unit with special skills to fight terrorists, intelligence operations, and other special operations.
"The recent increase in terrorist actions is an indication that international terrorists had been stepping up their operations in various countries, including Indonesia," he said.
In facing all these, Bravo’90 detachment had been engaged in training in fighting terrorists and releasing hostages in flying airplanes code-named "Albara 2010".
"These exercises are internal activities of the Air Force held on a regular basis. In the days to come, these exercises will be held along with other units including the Army, Navy, and the Police, in dealing with terrorists," Harpin said.
