MEDAN, N SUMATERA (waspada.co.id) - Lagged movement of North Sumatera High Prosecutor's office to handle South Tapanuli graft case is concerned linked with political trick, anti graft activist organization said.
An anti graft activists joined in Konsorsium Mahasiswa dan Pemuda Anti Korupsi or known as Kompak doubts the Prosecutor's Office not transparent to demand President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono permit in order to probe top suspect in the case, Rahudman Harahap.
"Please, show us the copy of demand letter if any," Kompak coordinator Rosul Al Amin said here on Wednesday (Nov.10), as cited by Waspada Online.
He argued has questioned the Prosecutor's office spokesman Erbindo Saragih, but Erbindo admitted has no idea when the letter was issued.
"The letter already sent to President. I don't know, however, when it was issued," Rosul repeated the spokesman's answer.
North Sumatera Prosecutor's office declares Tuesday (Oct.26) Medan mayor Rahudman Harahap a suspect in conjunction with South Tapanuli budget graft on 2005.
Rahudman is allegedly involved in the corruption for his capacity as the former regency secretary. He has been accused of involvement in two graft cases, worth a total of Rp17 billion (US$1.7 million).
The North Sumatra supervisory board stating Rahudman failed to take responsibility for more than Rp13.8 billion lost from the South Tapanuli administration's 2005 budget when he was serving as secretary of the administration.
Rahudman was also accused of misappropriating over Rp4.9 billion from the same budget, which was disbursed as loans to 100 officials in South Tapanuli.
"The Prosecutor office must arrest mayor Rahudman, so the administration operation may run properly," Kompak coordinator Rosul Al Amin told Waspada Online at his office here on Wednesday (Nov.10).
Rosul warns the Prosecutor office to accomplish investigation no later than two weeks. "If it fails, the case should be taken over by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)," he said.
