JAKARTA - State oil company PT Pertamina is still trying to put out the flames by using foam to cool down silos 31-T2, 31-T3 and 31-T7 at Pertamina’s Refinery in Cilacap, Central Java.
Corporate Communications officer of Pertamina M Harun said in Jakarta Sunday that the fire at silo 31-T2 and 31-T3 had been reduced substantially, while 31-T7 is still burning actively. He also said that Pertamina is also trying hard to put out the flames by cooling 32T-104 with water east of 31-T7.
"Right now the flames on 32T-104 had already been localized by spraying water on it forming a water curtain to stabilize the high temperature," he said.
He said the ring water sprinkler on the silo is also functioning automatically. For these purposes he has raised the supply of foam for putting out the raging flames to 42 tons from different operational locations of Pertamina.
Not only that, 21 firemen had also arrived at the locations, bring their total number to 80, including Pertamina workers of Cicalp from the operational and maintenance divisions.
"Four helicopters had also been used to fight the flemes, including two from the Indonesian Air Force," he said.
He also said Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa and Pertamina’s president director Karen Agustiawan are also in Cilacap to direct the operations. When asked about the national fuel oil supplies, he said the condition is quite safe, with the premium, solar oil and kerosene still reaching 3.2 million kiloliters.
