Capital Outflow Rises US$463.6 Tn

Thursday, December 9, 2010 | 10:58 AM WIB | 0 Views Last Updated 2010-12-09T16:58:56Z
The capital outflow during the first week of December rose Rp 4.18 trillion (US$463.6 million).

According to Bank Indonesia, the high capital outflow was due to the lack of share ownership in the Bank Indonesia Certificate (SBI) by Rp 5.89 trillion a week. Global negative sentiment earlier this week had been another cause of the outflow despite slight improvement on the US, China and South Korea.

"After all, the adjustment in investors' portfolio by the end of the year has likely affected foreign investment in the domestic financial assets," said Chief of Public Relations Bureau of Bank Indonesia, Difi A Johansyah.

The foreign ownership portion in the State Bonds inconsiderably increased by 29.5 percent while the SBI decreased by 26 percent.

Share release from foreign investors caused daily transaction volume of the SBI in the secondary market rise quite insignificantly. The average daily volume of SBI in the secondary market last week hit Rp 1.6 trillion compared to the previous week at Rp 600 billion.
